Books , which every beginner of hacking should read .

I have seen many guys running here and there to learn about hacking . I often get email from enthusiastic newbies asking  "how can I learn to be a  hacker? You cant learn to hack magically , just by reading some tuts and doing some funny stuff don't make you a hacker . To be a hacker you need to know how things works , then only you can know how hacking works . To be a hacker you need to get the basic  knowledge about internet and networks  , for that you have to read , now what to read ?  Here are some books that every newbie hacker should read , if you seriously wanna be a hacker .

1. Start with "Google Hacking for Penetration Testers". First 2-3 chapters are must, rest on your interest.

2. TCP IP by Douglas Comer, very basic and good book to learn networking. Go for CCNA from good institute after this. I don't recommend 5-days CCNA classes. Search for some universities affiliated by CISCO to conduct CCNA course. Their courses are around 280 hours of lectures.

3. Learn Bash Scripting --> Bash Guide for beginners by Marchtelt Garrels. Supplement it with the bash scripting guide by Yashwant Kanetkar. Bash scripts are very handy during Penetration tests and hacks.

4. Learn the proper usage of tools. Read either "NMap book Fyodor" or "secrets of network cartography by James Messer". The motive is not just to learn NMap, but these books will help you understand network protocols better.

5. Learn Python first if taking up programming. I would suggest learn programming after you finish the above stated books first.

6. Learn 'C'. Start with "Let us C - by Yashwant Kanetkar".

7. If you are SQL skiddie but don't understand the basics, read "PL-SQL" by Ivan Baross".

Enough, they are enough to engross you for next 1-2 year. And of course they are basic books, more advance books are available but are not meant for beginners in respective fields..
